Dear Parents

What a dreadful term this has been weather wise, but as I write this the sun is shining and everything is looking so much brighter.  Let us hope this bodes well for the Easter holidays and the summer term, with the warmer days and longer evenings.  I have  been so pleased with the way that the children have worked this term, they are really improving their skill levels and I am looking forward to taking them back outside in the holidays and next term.

Holidays courses and tournaments

Easter holiday course forms have already been handed out and I am looking forward to seeing the children make rapid progress during the intensive coaching sessions.  Tournaments will take place during the summer term at both Otford Tennis Club and Russell House School.  Please go to www.otfordminitennis.co.uk for details and entry forms.  There is a big emphasis from the LTA to get children competing more, so please enter early in order to avoid disappointment.  All children competing in Grade 6 events or above need to register as a British Tennis Member.  This is free and can be done online by going to www.lta.org.uk   Please put Otford Tennis club down as the host club.

The dates for the summer holiday courses are:  weeks commencing July 26th; August 2nd;  August 9th and will link in with courses being run at Otford LTC for older siblings.

Ladies coaching sessions

Don’t let your children have all the fun, come along to one of the coaching sessions on Friday mornings.  The last session of coaching for the term will be on Friday 19th March.  Summer term coaching will start on Friday 23th April 9.00 – 10.30 for improvers, 10.30 – 12.00 for beginners/rusty rackets.  Everyone welcome, please call me for further information and also details of more adult coaching sessions at other times at Otford LTC. 

Open lessons for parents to watch

Parents are invited to come and watch the last lesson of term, which will be as follows:  Monday 15th March, Friday 19th March; Wednesday 24th March; (one week later, to make up for the session cancelled due to the show)

Rebooking

If you want to change the day your child comes to tennis, this is the time to do so, but please note that you will need to get your forms back as soon as possible in order to avoid disappointment. Due to the May Bank Holiday weekend, groups on Monday will have one less lesson.  Please check the dates in order to avoid any confusion.  

I have indicated on the booking form which class would best suit your child, so in order to secure a place please return the form with correct payment.  Confirmation of place will be by e.mail only, so please make sure you give me an address, which is regularly checked.  Priority booking for members only is until Monday 22nd  March, after which children on the waiting list will be offered places.

All classes are booked on a first come first served basis, so book early to avoid disappointment. If you no longer wish for a place for your child it would be much appreciated if you could let me know as soon as possible.

Tournaments

There will be an assortment of tournaments held at Otford Tennis Club and Russell House during the summer term.  The details of these will be finalised as soon as possible.  Tournaments are and ideal way for your child to improve their level of play and their understanding of the game.  I will e.mail the dates out once they have been confirmed.
